Adriane Flanary is a Senior Lecturer within the Department of Communication and Performance at East Tennessee State University. She holds a M.A. in Professional Communication from East Tennessee State University. Flanary teaches general education communication studies courses in a variety of contexts spanning from traditional classroom instruction and distance education to online courses.
Flanary incorporates an authentic teaching style that brings world news, current events, and research findings into lectures and discussion. This teaching style promotes active learning, while teaching students the importance of awareness and understanding. She firmly believes that communication knowledge and understanding will benefit every facet of one's life. Additionally, Flanary has conducted research in political communication and representations of gender and ethnicities in corporate media. Furthermore, Flanary serves as Graduation Advisor within the Department of Communication and Performance. She advises seniors within the Communication Studies major/minor and Storytelling minor programs. |
