Fundamentals of Communication: COMM 2025
COMM 2025, Fundamentals of Communication, is an introductory course designed to teach students the skills and fundamentals needed to perform effective oral communication in their everyday lives. Students will improve their verbal communication, nonverbal communication, and listening skills which are ALL vital to effective communication. This course provides a thorough foundation of communication theory, research, and skills as they relate to intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, and public communication contexts, emphasizing both verbal and nonverbal messages.
This course is designed to enable you to:
*Understand and apply communication theory to intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, and public communication
contexts.
*Demonstrate verbal and nonverbal communication competencies in listening, message construction, and message
presentation.
*Assess different communication events or situations and identify communication behaviors appropriate to each.
*Make responsible communication choices that are mindful of human diversity.

COMM 2045, Public Speaking, is an introductory course designed to teach students the skills and fundamentals needed to perform oral communication effectively. This course emphasizes the study and practice of preparing, delivering, and analyzing speeches. Students will improve their skills in research, composition, and delivery of well-organized speeches. My goal is to demonstrate the importance of having a solid foundation in communication and how it can enhance various areas of your life.
This course is designed to enable you to:
* Use public address as a tool for developing and practicing sound reasoning and critical thinking.
*Critically analyze the claims and arguments of other speakers.
*Understand how nonverbal communication relates to competent performance and use it effectively.

COMM 2055, Argumentation & Debate, is an introductory course designed to teach students the skills and fundamentals needed to research, perform, and critique both formal and informal arguments and debates. Students will improve their skills in research, composition, and critical thinking of arguments and debates while incorporating nonverbal communication skills. My goal is demonstrate the importance of effectively evaluating the credibility of evidence in arguments and thoroughly analyzing the evidence to formulate your argument or educated opinion.
